Did you know that how you start your morning will determine the tone of your entire day, so why not plan accordingly? When you form healthy daily habits for the morning, you set up the remainder of your day to be successful!
1. Keep your mobile phone turned off as long as possible.
I have been keeping mine on airplane mode overnight for years now. I try not to turn the phone back on until I have completed some of my daily morning habits, which are listed below. It's funny, but once it is turned off, I am not in such a hurry to get it back on until I am ready to start my day. Once you get in the habit of it being off, you will get used to the peace and not even be tempted to look at it until you personally decide you are ready to.
2. Drink a warm or room-temperature glass of lemon water before you consume anything.
Did you know that the fabulous lemon contains minerals that promote healthy digestion, and stimulate healthy bowel function by reducing bloat and stimulating the bowels? Additionally, water is essential for health and energy. If you find it difficult to drink H20 alone, then adding a little lemon kicks the flavor up a notch, making it easier to drink the glass of water. This makes it a morning starting, healthy Win-Win!
3. Meditate, practice mindful thinking.
Meditation or mindfulness. Thinking about your day with positive intention helps to train both your mind as well as your emotions, doing this in effect can influence how you react to challenges that can come up during your day. By meditating on your upcoming day ahead, you are able to visualize what you want to accomplish thus getting a clear picture of the decisions you will make.
4. Make your bed every single day.
Why is this simple act so important? The reason is that making your bed gives you a sense of accomplishment, as well as a task well done and you can see the results immediately. Doing this on a daily basis helps to foster a desire to complete more tasks throughout the day. Even Mom knew the emotional benefits of doing this, so Mom was right in teaching us to "Make your bed". Plus, it set the stage for your next good night's sleep.

Forming new habits can be challenging. Maybe you make your bed 3 days in a row then forget to or skip the next day. Don't beat yourself up. If you mess up and start skipping the new healthy habit, don't fret, simply get back on track right away.
I did this with the un-habit of making my bed. I actually stopped making it for a couple of years. Ugh! Then I bought some new bedding, made my bed and never stopped.
The key with healthy habits and routine is to,...repeat, repeat, repeat until it is automatic.
Self-Care is defined as taking the time to take care of yourself. This can include taking supplements, exercising, eating healthy, giving attention to your skin, teeth, and hair. Self-care is a form of love, It shows that you feel valuable, important enough to give yourself some personal loving attention. Do this every day.
8. Write 2-3 things that you are grateful for every morning before you start your day.
Writing about positive things that you are grateful for each day is an excellent way to look at the brighter things in life. Let's face it, life can be quite stressful. When you take the time to thoughtfully dwell on positive aspects and blessings in your life, these serve to aid you to look for the good in any situation. This sets a pro-active mood for your day ahead. Even if it is being thankful that you woke up this day, it helps your day begin on a positive note.
9. Let the sun in, if possible.
Open your window coverings, look outside, see what's going on. Sun shining? Rain falling? Squirrel running? Flowers blooming? Leaves falling? Beautiful sunrise?
Look and see if you can spot something that you have never noticed before. Or look at and enjoy the raindrops on the window, or the squirrel climbing the tree, or the beautiful fall leaves falling. If you search hard enough, you will indeed find a new sight that can set a positive mood for your day.

Start the night before to prepare for your morning. Make sure you have lemons for your lemon water. Put your gratitude journal near your bed so that you can easily access it in the morning. Keep that mobile phone just far away enough to keep you from reaching for it. Line up your new skin, face, or teeth self-care products on the counter in the bathroom. Plan on doing your stretching first thing upon awakening each morning.
